When my cell phone rang at 5:45 this morning and Sister Hansen's picture appeared on the screen, I knew she wasn't calling to tell me to have a good day! Apparently the Office Elders' alarms didn't wake them up. They'd told Elder Lauper yesterday that they'd be up at 5 so they could get to the mission home in time to help transport 18 missionaries and luggage to the airport. Oops! Sister Hansen had been trying to reach them but they weren't answering. President Hansen had already taken 2 elders to BTR who had a 7 am flight, but there were 14 leaving at 7:30 who needed to leave no later than 6:10 to get their flights.
Fortunately Elder L was already showered and dressed, so he could leave immediately to find out what happened to the OE's. Unfortunately we're now 3 1/2 miles from the apartment, not just across the driveway, but at least the traffic was doable. When he arrived he had to pound on the Elders' door to wake them.
At least the story has a happy ending for everyone, except Elder Smiley, who arrived home in Savannah GA without his luggage. For some reason they think it may have gone to St. George with one of the other elders. I wish him lots of luck.
